Grand Southern Quarter Horses - standing imported Buckskin American Quarter Horse - THIS KIDS ALL STYLE (imp)

Mytee Obvious Te (imp)

We only dreamed about owning an imported horse and when it becomes a reality you have to pinch yourself everyday. Very early morning around 1.30am back in May 1999, Mytee arrived and made his long walk up our driveway to this new home. It was like he had been there all his life.

It wasn’t long before Mytee got into a routine, and became part of the family. He was more than a stallion to us, anyone with any horse sense could handle him, you would only have to give him a sideway look and he would drop his bottom lip. Mytee bonded with Angi instantly. We decided that Angi should be the one to present and show him to visitors considering him for their mare. We wanted to keep the breeding and the showing separate, Ang did all the showing Bev did all the breeding.

Our most memorable moment with Mytee would be without a doubt the Australian Halter showcase Stallion parade held in Werribee Victoria. Swiftly moving from one end of the arena to the other, to the music of Queens 'We will Rock you'. Finishing with a bow to the crowd followed by their cheers and audible amazement that took our breath away.

Over the years we bred many foals and they never ceased to amaze, so calm and a willingness to learn. We have had great success with many of Mytee’s progeny, unfortunately you can’t show them all. But we were fortunate to keep eight brood mares sired by Mytee. They the basis of our breeding program and Mytee’s legacy will prove to be sought after bloodlines for many years to come.

On the 22nd of February 2006 Mytee showed signs of colic, we had our vet Stephen McClintock arrive within thirty minutes, which seemed like hours. He urged us to get him to the university as he would need emergency surgery. His surgery went through the night and all we could do was wait. Unfortunately Mytee’s system was not recovering and we had to make the decision to put him to rest. We said our last goodbyes, we were in a mess, you just don’t realise how much you love these damned horses and how much they affect you when you lose them.  We think of him every once in a while.
